Dog Trick - The SpinCheryl
Miller Tricks Are Fun and Easy! The Spin It‘s bitter
cold outside, the wind is blowing and it has been snowing all day. There is nothing of interest on
television and you have completed the crossword puzzles in the news paper. You
look at your dog wondering how to teach it tricks. Suddenly it
happens. Your dogs’ tail begins to wag! Your dog can
learn to perform and both of you will grow from the experience! You have the time, so let’s add some
patients and gather up your dogs favorite treats! Let’s begin with teaching the “Spin.” Hold the
treat in front of your dogs’ nose. Move your hand slowly in a large circle to the left or right
while saying the word “Spin.” The
dog will not make a complete circle if you move too fast, or if the circle you
make is too small. The dog must
follow the treat completely around. The treat leads and the dog follows! Remember which direction your circle began
for that will be the direction the dog will learn to spin! Changing directions will confuse the dog.
Once your dog has followed the treat completely around, let the dog have the
treat! On your next practice give
the treat for two times around, then three and so on. Build spins slowly. Soon
you will need very little arm motion or words for spinning. Advanced spinners’
need plenty of room! Have fun and
get ready to teach the “Step-up!” http://www.academy4paws.com
