The Captain Haggerty -Dog Professionals Conference Scholarship Program

The IACP is offering the Captain Haggerty Dog Professional Conference Scholarship! If you know any young adults that have an interest in dogs and would like to attend the annual conference at no charge, this opportunity is for them!

Scholarship Program Rules:
• Anyone may enter that are between the ages of 18-25 years old.

• A 500-600 word essay is to be written by the applicant on `Why they would like to attend the IACP Annual Educational Conference', which should include their dog experience, if any, and the goals they hope to obtain within the field of "dogs".

• Submissions must be RECEIVED no later than August 31st , 2013.

• All submissions will be forwarded to the Conference Scholarship Committee, who will review all essays and announce a winner no later than August 31st, 2013. This will allow approximately 2 weeks for travel plans to be arranged by the recipient.

We are very pleased to announce that we will be able to award this scholarship to a total of two (2) recipients for the 2013 conference!

The 'winners' will be given a free admission and lunch to the entire IACP Annual Educational Conference, and up to a $500.00 stipend toward travel arrangements and hotel expenses.

This program will not only expose young adults to the IACP, but it will also show them some of the wonderful opportunities they can have to work with dogs. So, get those young people writing and we hope to meet them at the conference!!

Scholarship Award Jack Deeley Memorial - Young Pups Initiative

The Jack Deeley Young Pups Award was initiated to encourage young people interested in moving into the dog world professions. The aim is to assist them not only through learning at the conference but also in making contacts with practicing professionals who have the experience to provide advice and help them succeed.

This Memorial fund was established on the death of Martin Deeley’s father, by the Directors of the IACP at that time. Jack Deeley was a man who quietly helped everyone and never asked for anything in return. His thanks were to see the people he assisted succeed and have happy lives. The Young Pups Award will now be given every year to enable an aspiring canine professional to attend the IACP Annual Conference free of charge.

Anyone may make donations to the fund, and our membership renewal forms have a location on the form asking for a voluntary $5 contribution towards this fund. In the future it is intended that the scope of assistance and support to young people within all the dog world professions will increase through this fund.

Currently all advertising for Scholarship entrants is done through the IACP SafeHands E-Mail List and the IACP SafeHands Journal.

The recipient will be given a free admission and lunch to the entire IACP Annual Educational Conference, and up to a $500.00 stipend toward travel arrangements and hotel expenses.

Please note: The recipient must be accompanied at all times by an adult guardian and the accompanying adult expenses are not covered.

To apply for this award:
• Members should write a short application detailing why they feel this award would be ideal for the young person they wish it to be awarded to, who is under 18 years of age.
• The recipient will be decided upon from the applications submitted by the IACP Board of Directors.
• Applications must be received by Head office by August 31st 2013.
